Edit the Main Homepage Slideshow Image

This article walks through how to add or adjust the main homepage slideshow image.

Instructions

  1. Log in to your website solution

  2. Navigate to the Homepage

  3. Ensure that Live Edit is On: To edit a page, enable Live Edit.

  4. Click the padlock attached to a widget on your page: A Homepage's locked widgets often require changing the Homepage's Layout.

    Note: It does not matter which widget's lock you select as they all bring up the same pop-up modal.

  5. Within the Container Inheritance modal, select the Go to the Layout Page button: The widget's Container Inheritance pop-up message.

  6. Click on an existing Slideshow Widget: You can edit existing slideshow widgets by clicking anywhere on the slideshow.

  7. Click the Add Images button: The slideshow's Add Images button.

  8. Enable the checkboxes next to the images you want to add to the Slideshow: The checkboxes must be selected to add the associated image to the slideshow.

  9. Click the Insert Marked button: The Insert Marked button adds the selected images to the slideshow.

  10. If needed, edit the image's Title: A slideshow image's title field.

  11. Expand the Advanced options to add more information: A slideshow image's advanced options, such as Captions and Alt text.

    • Caption: Add a caption for the image, this is a smaller body copy below the title. Example of the title and caption field: A caption example that says 'Stay informed on decisions made by the local government that affect you and your family'.

    • Alt Text: Add alt text for Accessibility Compliance that describes the subject matter of your image. The alt text will be seen as a user hovers over the image. If the uploaded image has text, include all text within the alt text field. Example of the Alt text field: The Alt Text example reads 'The front entrance of a large brick building'.

    • Link?: Check to enter a URL you want that image to link to

    • Display: If you want this image to only be displayed within a certain date range, enter those dates here

    • Remove: Removes the image from the slideshow

  12. To change the order of your slideshow images, you click on one of the images and start to drag it up or down in order: The drag and drop tool allows you to rearrange your slideshow's images.

  13. Click the Save Slideshow button: The Save Slideshow button saves any changes made to the slideshow.

  14. Click the Save button: The page's Save button on the Live Edit ribbon.
