Network Testing

This article will outline steps that you can take to help our Support team determine the source of network-related site speed issues.

Important Note:

The steps in this article require advanced technical experience. You may want to contact local IT staff for access or assistance.

Tasks

• Determine Your Site’s Production Domain

• Gather Relative Network Speed Information

• Create a .HAR File

• Use the Performance Test File to Gather Information (for Windows computers only)

• Use Traceroute or pingpath on the Site’s Production URL or IP address

  • Use Traceroute on Windows or Mac

    • Traceroute is a software tool used to display the path and some basic information about the network path between two addresses. In order to run this software, you will need access to a Terminal Window or Command Prompt.

    • Availability will depend on your operating system.

    • Windows users will use the "tracert" command, while MacOS or Linux system users will use the "traceroute" command.

  • Use Pingpath on Windows

    • Pingpath can be used to display and learn information about the network path between two addresses.

    • Availability will depend on your operating system.
