Restore an Archived News Flash Item

This article will show you how to restore an archived News Flash Item.

Important Note:

Since you create a copy of the original archived item, the ID number of the item will change.

Who can use this feature?

System Administrator | Owner | Publisher

  1. Sign in to your site.

  2. Navigate to Modules and, on the Content tab, select News Flash:

  3. Click the Show Archived button:

  4. Apply filters, if needed, then click the Search button:

    • Start Date and End Date: Set a date range for the items you want to view

    • Start Time and End Time: Set a time range

    • Display: Choose which types of items to view: Categories Only, Items Only, or Categories and Items

    • Reason: Choose a reason for archival

    • Keyword: Enter a keyword specific to the items you want to search

  5. Locate your item, click Choose an Action, and then click Copy:

  6. Change the Stopping On Date / End Time if required:

  7. Make any other changes, if needed:

    • New Category: Choose the category the copied item should be placed in

    • Display:

      • Starting On: The date the item should begin appearing publicly. This field is required

      • Stopping On: The date the item should stop appearing publicly. This field is required

      • Start Time: The time on the starting date that the item should begin appearing publicly

      • End Time: The time on the stopping date that the item should stop appearing publicly

    • Show Last Modified Date?: Check this box to display when the item was last updated

    • Title: Enter the title of the item. This field is required

    • Link: Add an alternate link for the item

      • Web Address: Enter the URL you would like the item to link to

      • Display Text: Enter text to display on the front end of your site

      • Open in a New Window: Check this box to open the link in a new window

      • Link Item, Image, Read On, RSS and Notifications to this Web Address: Check this box to make the news item an external link to the specified web address instead of linking to the item's details page

    • Lead In: Enter a short introductory snippet or summary that leads into the full text

    • Full Text: A rich text editor field where the main content of the item is written

    • Image: Choose an image to upload for the item, and select whether it should align left or right

    • News Item Header Image Settings: Choose how the image should be displayed in the item's page header

      • Display Image in News Item as a Background to the Item Page Header: Displays the image as a background behind the page header

      • Display Image in News Item Next to the Item Page Header: Displays the image beside the page header

      • Do Not Display Image in News Item Page Header: Prevents the image from displaying in the page header

    • Featured?: Check this box to feature this news item

    • "Read on..." Text: Enter the text that should display as the link to read the full item

    • Show Archives: Toggles whether archived versions are shown. The default is "No"

    • Related Categories: Select any additional categories the item should also appear under

      • Select All: Check this box to select every related category listed

    • Show in Widget: Check this box to allow this article to be displayed in News Flash widgets

  8. Navigate to and click a Save option:

    • Save: Saves the copied item without publishing it, keeping it unpublished

    • Save and Publish: Saves the copied item and publishes it, making it visible to the public
