Create a Work Order

Some Requests need work from staff in different departments. Work Orders let you assign tasks to specific people so the work can be done and the Request can be resolved.

Work Orders (WO) help organize and measure the work that needs to be done. You can think of them like transactions. Each one is clearly defined, has an owner, and can be acted on.

Create a Work Order Within an Existing Request

Most often, a Work Order is a task that needs to be completed in order to Close a Request. As such, a Work Order can be created within a Request and it will be connected to that Request.

  1. Sign in to your site if you have not done so already

  2. Navigate to an existing RequestExample request.

  3. Select Full Page ViewFull page view button.

  4. Scroll down along the right side of the Request Detail View and click New Work OrderNew Work Order button.

  5. Complete the fields within the new Work OrderWork order category.

  6. Select an AssigneeAssignee selection option.

  7. Fill in the remaining detailsDetails fields.

    • Category: Select the category for the work order

    • Status: There are two statuses: To-Do and Done

    • Assignee: This is the person who will be notified of the new Work Order and be responsible for completing that work

    • Due Date: The Due Date gives the assignee an understanding of the urgency of this Work Order

    • Location: When creating a Work Order within a Request, the location is automatically set as the Request's location

    • Description: Add a description of the work order

  8. Click SubmitSubmit button.


Create a Standalone Work Order

If you need to create a Work Order that's not connected to an existing Request, you can use the New button and then click Work Order.

  1. Sign in to your site if you have not done so already

  2. Navigate to New, then select Work OrderNew button menu Work order option.

  3. Enter the Address or drag the map marker to the LocationAddress field or draggable map marker.

  4. Select your CategoryCategory field.

  5. Select an AssigneeAssignee option.

  6. Fill in the remaining detailsInformation fields.

    • Category: Select the category for the work order

    • Status: There are two statuses: To-Do and Done
