Create an Intranet Homepage

This article will show you how to create a homepage for your Intranet. An intranet homepage is similar to a page, but the permissions are different.

Important Note:

  • When you create new subpages, the permissions will inherit from the homepage. You do not have to change the permissions for the intranet subpages.

Instructions

  1. Sign in to your website

  2. Ensure Live Edit is on:Live Edit option turned on

  3. Navigate to the global (found in the Mega Menu) you would like your intranet to live under, and click Add Page:The Mega Menu with its 'Add Page' option highlighted.

  4. Fill in the page’s information fields:The New Page modal with empty informational fields.

    • Menu Text: Displays in site menus

    • Title: Create page title

    • Always Use Page Title for Menu Text: Automatically match the Page Title when the submitted or saved page version is published

    • Linked Page: Your Intranet Homepage will not be a linked page

    • Department Header: If enabled, and the Search widget is configured to allow it, it will be possible to search only Department Header-related content

    • Description: Add a brief (1,000 characters or less) description

    • Keywords: Used to improve site search results; separate each word or phrase with a comma

    • Page Tags: Add tags to provide specific data for this page; commas are not required to separate tags

    • Image: Choose an image to display in the Pages widget (if using Format 4)

    • Hidden: Hide this page from displaying in site menus

    • Feature Column: Display the feature column on this page

  5. Select Create Page:The 'Create Page' button highlighted on the New Page modal.

  6. Navigate to Properties, then Permissions:A page's Live Edit panel, with the 'Properties' open and its 'Permissions' button highlighted.

  7. Uncheck guest permissions:A page's 'Guest' permission is unchecked.

  8. Find your intranet group:A page's 'Intranet - Front End' permission is highlighted.

  9. Check the viewing permissions:A page's 'Intranet - Front End' permission's 'View' option is checked.

  10. Select Save Page Changes:The 'Save Page Changes' button highlighted on the Live Edit panel.

  11. Click the Save and Publish button:In Live Edit, the page's 'Save and Publish' is selected.

  12. Add subpages:The 'Add Page' button highlighted below an existing to create a subpage.
