Link the Alert Bar to a Web Address

You can link your Alert Bar to point to any custom web addresses without users first having to visit the Alert Center. In the Alert Center, you will be able to customize the Alert Bar text and choose a link to direct it to when creating each alert.

Instructions

  1. Click Modules The drop down menu labeled Modules.

  2. Click Content The navigation tab labeled Content.

  3. Click Alert Center The URL labeled Alert Center.

  4. Select the category you would like the alert to be under The Category name in the All Categories column.

  5. Add or Modify an Alert

  6. Select an Alert Bar display option The radio buttons under the Alert Bar header.

  7. Change Alert Bar Text, if desired The text field under the Alert Bar Text header.

    Note:

    The default text is "Emergency Alerts," but any text can be used for the link (For example: Local Alerts, Weather Alerts, Coronavirus Alerts)

  8. Enter Alert Bar Link to link Alert Bar text to a web address The text field under the Alert Bar Link header.

    Note:

    This is the link that directs clicks on the Alert Bar. Leaving “/AlertCenter.aspx” does not override the alert bar link. Only a custom relative or absolute link will change where the main Alert Bar area directs.

  9. Fill out additional fields, as needed

  10. Click Save Changes or Save and Send The Save Changes and Save and Send buttons.

  11. Your Emergency Alert text will now link to the web address. An example image of an Emergency Alert Bar.
