Upload & Manage Images or Files

This article discusses how to upload image/file assets and add them to your Web Evolve site. You can also add and manage Assets in the HCMS. Learn about the supported file types.

Add an Asset

Who can use this feature?

System Administrator | Owner | Publisher | Author (submit for approval)

  1. Sign in to your site

  2. Navigate to your page

  3. Select the Content tab and click Add Asset:The Content button, then the Add Asset option.

  4. Select the Permission Set that can manage the content:The Permission Set field.

  5. (Optional) Select Categories to associate with the asset:The Categories field.

  6. Click or drag files into the box:The file upload field.

  7. Adjust the asset fields, as needed:The Upload a New Asset input fields.

    • File Name: The name of the file

    • Decorative (Images Only): Check to mark the image as decorative. Decorative images will use alt text (alt=“”) and are un-editable. View the Decorative Images article from the Web Accessibility Initiative.

    • Alt Text (Images Only): Add or modify the alternative text (Alt text is required to publish the asset)

    • Tags: Add or remove tags to easily identify the asset in search functions

    • Metadata: View or add Metadata for the asset

  8. Click the arrow next to Save and select Save and Change to Published:The Save button and the Save and Change to Published option.

    Note:

    If you wish to save the asset in Draft mode, click the Save button.

  9. Choose the published options and click Confirm:The Published options.

  10. The asset will now be displayed in the left panel. Drag and drop it on your page:The asset dragged and dropped onto the page.

  11. Configure the Widget and content options, as needed:The Widget options.

  12. Click the Save Changes button at the top of the page:The Save Changes button.

Modify an Asset

Who can use this feature?

System Administrator | Owner | Publisher | Author (submit for approval)

  1. Sign in to your site

  2. Navigate to your page

  3. Click inside the widget with the assets you want to modify:An asset within a widget.

  4. Click Actions and then Modify next to the asset:The three dot action menu, then the Modify option.

  5. Make your desired changes:The Update Asset in put fields.

    • Replace File: Select to upload a new version of the file

    • Permission Set: The Permission Set that can manage the content

    • Categories: Select Categories to associate with the asset

    • File Name: The name of the file

    • Decorative (Images Only): Check to mark the image as decorative. Decorative images will use alt text (alt=“”) and are un-editable. View the Decorative Images article from the Web Accessibility Initiative.

    • Alt Text (Images Only): Add or modify the alternative text (Alt text is required to publish the asset)

    • Tags: Add or remove tags to easily identify the asset in search functions

    • Metadata: View/add Metadata for the asset

  6. Click Save:The Save button.

    Note: To change the status, click the drop-down arrow next to the Save button:The Save and status change options.

Delete an Asset

  1. Sign in to your site

  2. Navigate to your page

  3. Select the Content tab and find the asset you wish to remove:The Content button, then the Search Content field.

  4. Click Actions and then Delete next to the asset:The tree dot menu, then the Delete option.

  5. Click Delete on the warning pop-up:The Delete button.
