Add Fields to a Form

This article will show you how to add fields to a form.

Important Note:

Iframes are not supported within Form Center fields.

Instructions

  1. Sign in to your site

  2. Create or Modify a Form

  3. Drag and drop a Field Type to your form Field types.

    • Short Answer: Will allow for a short answer (Character limit of 999 characters)

    • Long Answer: Will allow for a long answer (Character limit of 9999 characters)

    • Checkboxes: Add unlimited checkbox options, users will be able to check multiple options on the form

    • Dropdown: Add unlimited drop-down options for users to choose from

    • Radio Buttons: Add unlimited radio button options, users will only be able to select one option on the form

    • Section Break: Add a section break to the form

    • Reply Email: Will allow a reply email to be entered

    • Page Break: Add a page break to separate the form into multiple pages with tabs

    • Date/Time: Will allow a date/time to be added to the form

    • File Upload: Will allow files to be uploaded

    • Image: Add an image to the form

    • Link: Add a link to the form

    • Text: Create a text block on the form

    • Masked Input: Will allow for masked input on an item

    • External Integration: Add an external URL and instructions

  4. You can also drag and drop existing Field Sets to your form Field sets.

  5. Fill out the Properties for the field Properties tab.

    Note:

    The Properties available will differ based on the field type selected.

    • Label: Add a label for the field

    • Instructions: Write any necessary instructions for users

      Note:

      The Froala WYSIWYG editor has been added to all Form Center instructions fields, so now text can be easily formatted to be consistent with site styles without needing to write HTML. This also now supports basic HTML. Iframes are not supported.

    • Width: Choose the width of the field

    • Required: Check if the field is required for submission of the form

    • External Name: The external name is the identifier for the field that Form Center will send to the external server. Form Center will auto-generate an external name for each field. Learn more about External Integration Forms.

  6. Click Save ChangesSave changes.

  7. Reopen the field and edit the Advanced tab, if necessary Advanced tab.

    Note:

    The Advanced options may differ based on the field type selected.

  8. Edit the appearance of a field on the Visual tab, if necessary Visual tab.

    • Area: Select which area to modify from the drop-down

    • These styles are the default for this form: Check to make this appearance the default

    • Apply these styles to all fields on this form: Select to make this appearance override for all forms on this field

  9. Click Save ChangesSave changes.

  10. Click Save or Save and PublishSave options on form.

    • Save: Saves the current changes without publishing them.

    • Save and Publish: Saves the current changes and publishes them to the front end.
