Intranet Overview

Who can use this feature?

System Administrator

The Intranet allows you to post secure information on your website. For an individual to view the information, they have to sign in to the site. Examples of what you would post to the Intranet include:

  • Human Resources (HR) forms that do not collect sensitive information unless Encrypted Forms are used

  • Employee-only calendars and documents

  • Pre-Approved Council/Commission packets

Setup Process

For the Intranet to work properly on a website, you need to complete the following:

  1. Create a Front-End Group for the Intranet

    Note:

Title the group appropriately to avoid confusion (example: Intranet - View Only Access). You would not have to add the users at this time, but this will make it easier when adding permissions for your pages.

  2. Set Up Intranet Page Permissions

  3. Set Up Intranet Category Permissions

  4. Set Up Intranet Module Permissions

Tips

  • To sign in to your website's intranet, you should navigate to www/yourwebsitedomain/intranet

  • To make a Page or Module accessible to only a specific Front-End group, you must remove the View (V) permission for that component from the Guest.

    • The Guest group handles all anonymous visitors to your website, so removing the View permissions for the Guest group will make that component inaccessible to the public without a login.

    • Make sure that you’re very careful to remove the View permission for the correct Page and/or Category. The View permission checkbox for guests is unchecked.

  • To be able to remove View permissions for the Guest group for Module categories, you must first remove them at the Module-level permissions using the top Permissions.

    • If you do so, do not choose Save & Push Down.
